We’ll be learning to introduce ourselves, talk about what we like and what we like to do! We'll also listen to Spanish music, learn to order in a restaurant, learn about sports, describe places, and learn to talk about food, families, and festivals! We'll also learn about Cuba while reading the novel El escape cubano!

We'll start by reviewing from last year with a novel study of Tumba. We will be learning to narrate actions and events in the past, and refining our spoken fluency. We'll learn to talk more about classes, extracurriculars, daily routines, giving directions, and getting around Spanish-speaking towns and cities. We will learn to talk about our childhood, and do a film study for Pachamama about indigenous peoples and the Incan Empire in the pre-colonial Andes Mountains, as well as a Day of the Dead film study with Coco!

We'll be learning how to speak and write about outdoor experiences in national parks, arts and culture, health, careers and the future, myths and legends, as well as completing a film unit on immigration. Literary topics include short stories about a family in Cuba and a Mexican boy´s first experiences in an American school, Robo en la noche, a novel study about Costa Rica, and Callejón del beso, a novel study about Guanajuato, Mexico. We will end the year with another film unit taking place in the city of Guanajuato, featuring university students´ experiences.
