Tutoría (tutoring)

Student-led tutoring is led by student volunteer members of the Spanish Honor Society.

Tutoring Guidelines and Expectations

Tutors can help students with spoken practice or written practice that is content based.  For example, a student can ask for explanations of preterite/imperfect, and you can explain their notes and give them some of your own examples.  You may also practice in advance of Google Voice assessments.

Tutors can quiz students on vocab words with paper flashcards or can quiz students on verb conjugations or other grammar.

You are not allowed to make corrections on students’ homework assignments, but you can answer specific questions they have about the content.  Remember: you are not helping with homework other than answering questions about how to get started on an assignment or to clarify the assignment.

You are not allowed to proofread homework.

You are not allowed to proofread compositions.

Please see the academic integrity policy of the Spanish Department for more descriptions of what is appropriate, as all students still always need to produce their own work.  Students are not allowed to use the excuse that “My tutor helped me with this,” or “My tutor told me what to write,” if a teacher suspects that the student didn’t do his or her own work, as tutors have restrictions on what help they can provide.

All Students will still be held to the same level of accountability as far as producing their own work to the best of their abilities, but tutors are there to explain things conceptually or to help with studying.  If you feel a student needs to talk to Sra. Ehrhardt or Sra. Walk because their questions require more help than you can provide, then please kindly remind students that they need to visit their Spanish teacher to get help.

**Please talk to Señora Ehrhardt if you are interested in being paired with a great tutor!**
